Jackson College president elected to serve on national AACC board

Jackson College is proud to share that President & Chief Executive Officer Dr. Daniel J. Phelan has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the American Association of Community Colleges, the voice of America’s community colleges.

“Selected by their peers, the AACC Board of Directors are recognized leaders that bring a wealth of knowledge and an unwavering commitment to student success,” said Walter G. Bumphus, president and CEO of AACC. “Their service on the AACC board will help to advance initiatives and ensure that the voice of community college leaders is clearly heard in matters related to federal policy and regulation.”

President Phelan has served Jackson College since 2001, leading with a strong focus on innovation, student success, and collaborative community development. Nationally recognized for his governance expertise, he has held leadership roles in several major higher education organizations and authored influential works, including The Community College Board 2.0. Phelan’s dedication extends locally through service on various boards, and he has received numerous awards for his contributions to education and community service.
