Summer Concert Series includes local favorites, unique performances & college/community ensembles

Feel the rhythm of summer with Jackson College’s Summer Concert series! Enjoy great music, both outdoors on the Potter Center back patio and indoors in the Harold Sheffer Music Hall!
This year’s concert series includes:
- “Battle of the Bands Showcase Performances” (5 bands), 5 p.m. June 3, back patio
Jackson College hosted students and community groups earlier this year in a Battle of the Bands! Enjoy the sounds of these top local groups. - Big L and Code Blü – 7 p.m., June 5, back patio
Tap your foot to the sounds of Jackson’s own Larry Sumner Jr. and his band, Big L and Code Blü, as they perform popular favorites and original hits. - Jackson French Quarter Traditional Jazz Band – 7 p.m., June 9, back patio
Enjoy the spirit of New Orleans with this traditional jazz band, featuring classics like “When the Saints Go Marching In” and more. - Capital City Brass Band – 7 p.m., June 12, back patio
Featuring musicians from Jackson, Lansing, and beyond, the award-winning Capital City Brass Band has thrilled audiences since 2001. Enjoy a lively mix of brass band music, jazz, and popular tunes! - 41st Annual Trombonefest – 7 p.m., June 15, back patio
Celebrate Father’s Day with a one-of-a-kind musical experience featuring nearly 30 trombones and a rockin’ rhythm section. - Jackson College Community Concert Band – 7 p.m., June 17, Harold Sheffer Music Hall
Comprised of college and community members, the Jackson Community Concert Band offers something for everyone with a program of classic and popular favorites. - Summer Band Camp Finale – 11:55 a.m., July 3, Robert Snyder Dining Commons, Potter Center
Come support young musicians as they showcase what they’ve learned during summer band camp. Campers will also perform in the Brooklyn July 4th Parade the following day.
All concerts are free! Some seating is available, but concertgoers may also bring lawn chairs for outdoors performances. In case of inclement weather, concerts will be held indoors.
