The 39th Annual Trombonefest will feature new additions including a Lizzo Medley by Chris Evan Hass and a new original Chorale/Funk piece by Michigan Center grad and new EMU music major Will Janz, standards like “Achieved is the Glorious Work,” a Ron Douglass arrangement of “The Stars and Stripes Forever,”  a call-back to the 70s with Queen’s “Bicycle,” a bass trombone feature on “Make our Garden Grow,” for recent Napoleon grad and upcoming scholarship music major at Central Michigan, Dustin Moeckel.  As always, if the crowd demands it, we’ll close with the Bruno Mars Medley.  It’s not too late to attend rehearsals on June 10 and June 17 at 10 a.m. in the Ruth Day Theatre.  Contact bickeldanielp@jccmi.edu for more info.

The Community Concert Band (June 20) will perform Cohan’s “Patriotic Fantasy,” Kabalevsky’s “Colas Breugnon Suite,” the “Boston Pops March,” a Burt Bacharach medley created by EMU Music Major and long-time JC Band/Jazzy Jets member Rob Janz, two high-energy rhythmic pieces entitled “Persistence” (Saucedo)  and “Flight of Valor,” (Swearingen) the beauty of Ticheli’s “Shenandoah,” and of course big-band the toe-tapper, “Little Brown Jug.”
