Breathe easy with Jackson College: Join Our Lung Health Event in April!

Your lungs do so much for you every day, it’s important to give them the care they deserve.
Jackson College will host a community HealthWise screening event in April dedicated to lung and respiratory health. Community members are invited to this free opportunity, April 15 from 11 a.m. -3 p.m. in Justin Whiting Hall, Room 118, on Central Campus.
Respiratory therapy students will perform testing and education under the supervision of Jackson College faculty. The day will include:
- Pulmonary Function Testing to measure overall lung function.
- Six-minute walk test which is a safe and simple test used to assess functional exercise tolerance.
- Electrocardiograms (EKGs) please note that participants will be expected to have their primary care provider interrupt the results. If any emergent findings do occur, participants will be instructed to seek immediate medical care.
- Medication and equipment demonstrations
- Sleep apnea screening
- Smoking cessation information
- Lung model demonstration
- Lung health education
Screenings and information will be free, but appointments are required. Spaces are limited; please register by visiting www.jccmi.edu/healthwise, or call 517.990.1374 Monday-Thursday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. (ask for Sarah Case).
