David Phelps presents evening of faith-filled music & more at Potter Center

September 27, 2023

Sharing words of faith through song in his own spectacular voice, David Phelps lifts an audience whether he is with a group or performing solo. Get ready for After the Downbeat with David Phelps, with special guest comedian Mickey Bell, at the Potter Center at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8.

For nearly 20 years, David Phelps sang with the popular and prestigious Gaither Vocal Band, and during that time received numerous Dove Awards, two Grammy Awards, and multiple platinum-selling recording projects. As a solo artist, he is known for favorites that tell a story, like “End of the Beginning.” He received 2009 Dove Award nominations for Male Vocalist of the Year and Long Form Video for the Christmas DVD, “O Holy Night” to add to his many awards and honors. Since 2012, David has topped the Billboard charts time and time again with releases like: the 2012 live DVD “Classic” (#1), the 2015 live DVD “Freedom” (#1), the 2017 live DVD “The Best of David Phelps”, and most recently the 2018 live DVD “It Must Be Christmas” (#2). His newer release, “GameChanger,” includes a mix of pop, jazz, inspirational, R&B and Broadway-inspired selections, all bringing together the themes of redemption and unity.

Also performing will be comedian Mickey Bell. Bell proves that you do not need vulgar language to get people to laugh, you may just look around at the world to find plenty of comedy material. His passion for making people laugh stems from his troubled past that he is open about in his shows. His testimony of second chances and redemption provides both laughter and encouragement.
